Mr. McMahon is a trial lawyer with the firm. He concentrates his practice in major, complex civil litigation. Mr. McMahon has worked on the settlement and trial of several multi-million dollar cases and has a wide range of experience in cases involving significant bodily injury and death, traumatic brain injury, defective products, consumer fraud, premises liability, medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, asbestos disease, and environmental litigation.

In 2011 he successfully defeated a motion to dismiss based on the doctrine of forum non conveniens filed in U.S. District Court by a leading global hospitality company.  The case concerned a catastrophic injury to a New Jersey teen, which injury occurred in the waters off Aruba. The matter settled shortly after issuance of the court’s written opinion denying the motion and the amount recovered cannot be disclosed due to a confidentiality clause in the settlement release.

In 2012 his successful $3 million verdict, along with co-counsel, in a Union County, New Jersey jury trial was published in The New Jersey Law Journal as part of its 2013 Legal Almanac. The trial involved a fatal injury from an exploding industrial gas cylinder.

His most recent trial in 2015 was against a Canadian asbestos mining corporation.  The trial settled in its third week shortly after the Middlesex County trial judge ordered the corporation to produce a representative for questioning at trial.  Due to a confidentiality clause in the settlement release the amount recovered for plaintiff cannot be disclosed.

He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 2005. He was also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mr. McMahon has litigated many cases in federal jurisdictions including multi-district litigation in the States of New York and Pennsylvania. Mr. McMahon is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College of Maryland where he received his B.A. in History in 1998 while serving as the Student Assistant to the George B. and Willma Reeves Distinguished Professor in the Liberal Arts.

He received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2004. Following law school he served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable John J. Hughes in the United States District Court.  Thereafter he served as Deputy Attorney General prosecuting environmental actions within the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General. Prior to joining Miller & Gaudio Mr. McMahon focused his practice on mass tort and class action litigation on a national scale with one of the nation’s leading mass tort law firms.

He has been included in the list of New Jersey Rising Stars in Super Lawyers by Thompson Reuters, based on peer review ratings, 2011-2015.  He serves on the faculty of ACE, the Academy of Continuing Education for the Professions. He is legal counsel to Project U.S.E., a not-for-profit wilderness education program, and also serves on the Board of Advisors for Brookdale Community College’s Paralegal Studies Department.
